Slow down!!

I have been sitting here with so many things swirling around in my jam-packed mind and trying to decide what I wanted to share for today. I think I may make it a "hodge-podge" of stuff and start with "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY" to myself and my precious hubby, Chip. Its today! Its today! Its today!!! I have been married for 13 yrs and thank God everyday for this relationship and my family. It is so far from perfect, but we are growing and learning and finding our way as a family and keeping Jesus in the center. That alone can be a huge challenge some days!

As a momma to 3 very busy boys, I have begun praying for so many things for them....their school day, of course, but bigger things like love, integrity, self-control, the love of God's word, compassion, patience, their future spouse, respect.....etc. etc. etc. etc. Our lists could go on and on.

But, as I spend some time thinking about these 4 most important relationships in my life, I want to give them 110%. Now, don't get me wrong, I can sure screw that up and only give them half of myself at any given moment if i'm "busy" doing something that seems more important at the time. How can some"thing" be more important than the people God has placed before me???? Why do we get caught up in the time, stuff, and tasks that seem SO IMPORTANT but clearly our relationships should always come first.

I guess I need to add something to my prayer list. During my busy days and nights and I hear those most important voices.....needing me or asking me to do something...that I turn my focus on them. Ask God to give you a day of "simplicity" so you can go sit with your favorite people and give them ALL of you!

Oh, how I wonder how many times God has been trying to get my attention and I've been too busy to hear Him?? Lord, give me ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart for loving. I want to give Him all I can as well. Lets not give half of ourselves to anyone.....and most importantly our Savior.

I love my family and I love Jesus dearly and I want to give them all I can when I'm called!!!!
Blessings....

I can totally relate. Sometimes I lie in bed and wonder what I did with my day and realize just how many opportunities I missed with my kids because I was too busy. Sometimes I just have to let the dishes, laundry, reading, etc...go long enough to sneak in a quick game of Uno or a story or something! I tried to do that yesterday and am making a great attempt today as well! My new "mantra" is "The laundry will always be there...my kids wont!"
Somehow, when I am more attentive to my family, the chores of life seem to work themselves out!

I know exactly what you mean! Where has all the time went to? My oldest moved out last December and that was the hardest thing I've had to go through. I knew he would go some day, but not so soon! I have taken a step back with my younger two that are teenagers, 13 and 16, so that I can spend more precious time with them. They are teenagers and we as parents want to give them space, but end up giving too much. I get caught up in all the "stuff" we have to do and "things" that we have and forget that we need to slowwww down and take a moment with them. Like I should have stopped ironing when my son came to me and wanted to catch up for the weekend since he'd been gone to his grandparents. We talked, but my attention was on the ironing, not him. I pray that God helps me to savor those precious moments. I can't believe that in 5 years, they both will be gone! Where in the world did the time go? They were just babies not so long ago-at least it feels that way! I love to play Uno with them or Monopoly and I've just gotten too caught up in life and pray that God gives me the strength and presence of mind to quit running all the time and spend that quality time with them. Thanks Fran for bringing this to the forefont.

Happy Anniversary!!!!!!! There is only one way it can be satisfying... if you keep God at the center and it is obvious that you do it!

Cherish your kids!!!

Yup, being busy can steal so much from us. I've often heard busy stands for:

B=being
U=under
S=satan's
Y=yoke.

Oh, how true!! Can I get an "Amen?" I'm not the only one, am I?

So, slow down and don't miss a minute of what God has in store for you, your husband and your precious boys.

Last, but certainly not least. . .
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
