My heart is oozing!

Well...

How was the weekend?? I have officially become a redneck with this beautiful baseball tan thing I have going on....the tshirt lines, the tank top lines, the sock lines, the flip flop lines, and all the other signs of being outside in the sun with no sunscreen. I've learned my lesson....apply sunscreen. I know.

So, I've been thinking back on this past school year. I am completely grateful for my children's teachers, their level of faithfulness, committment, service, and heart for these kids and the Lord.
I'm also grateful for the people at church that have also lead them spiritually this past year. Their Sunday school teachers and their Wednesday night leaders have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Phil. 1:3 says, "I thank my God every time I remember you."

I'm doing a lot of remembering right now and my heart is truly oozing gratitude and love.

As someone that works in the church, I'm extra grateful for those who have been these spiritual teachers this past year. I have seen this years group be completely creative and truly be enthused about growing these children closer and closer to Christ. What a blessing. I just love them!

I also spend this time of the year looking backwards thinking about children's ministry at church....

What could we have done better?

What didn't work?

What should we have done??

What would I like to see for the next school year?

So, my beloved bloggy friends....here is where you come in. I need your help. I need your ideas.

Tell me something that your church does....especially in children's ministry.....that you absolutely love. Tell me something that you think is fun that is going on in your church. And, if you want to throw in something regarding Women's Ministry....feel free to do so! :)

You are going to help me out so much. I think the sun got to my brain a little this weekend and the brain activity is a little flat. I know y'all are creative and also have some amazing things going on in your own church!

I can't wait for your ideas! Bring 'em on internets!!

gratitude

I'm grateful for so much. And, you are a part of this oozing heart today!

hugs and blessings~
Fran

Well, I know that most churches do this, but I love that our church does VBS. The Sunday school classes also have memory verses and I think that's fabulous!

Fran,

Our church is pretty large, but a few years ago they remodeled some of the SS rooms and for 1-4 grades the rooms are set up as different stations. One is a wide open room for games and activities, another has a few computers that were graciously donated and some Bible activity software, another room is set up as a theater for videos, and there's an art room for creative artwork, and the final room is set up with a mini kitchenette, with toaster ovens, microwave, sink, etc. for small food activities. The kids rotate through those different stations each month with a lesson plan that covers the same core lesson in all stations. It's wonderful!

Fran,
I think you need to talk with our Children's Director. He is the best and so funny. We have 1000 kids and 400 workers in our church right now. He could give you great ideas. The groundbreaking ceremony was for the children. I love the security they offer the children and parents. They take a picture of each child, they assign a number to the children and make badges for the parents to wear with that number. If the kids get sick or something happens they flash the number on these little pager units in each sancutary. The parents can quietly leave the service to check on their kids. They have a table set up right before you get to the children's rooms and if you don't have a badge you can't get in. We have a special link to the children's ministry. If you want I will email it to you.
I prayed for your week!!! You're so close, yet so far away! ;>)
Love,
Patty

Well, as you know, I am all the way in love with Children's Ministry... I think perhaps one of my favorite thing we do is make sure the teachers are all equipped to do what they are there to do... they have a four week series of classes to take, then we have quarterly meetings, mentoring opportunities, and topical trainings throughout the year. I find that if we can keep the hearts of the volunteers focused, the kids follow suit.

The thing I like best about our children's program is that it feels and looks like a fun environment. My husband actually designed the area they are in and it is very "Nickelodeon"ish. Also, when they arrive, there is always fun music playing and beach balls for the kids to bat around. Once church starts, the fun doesn't end, it is just channeled differently with a wonderful curriculum that has substance. Also, they send home simple devotions for you to do with your child each week.

Hope this helps!

I blog so you can get a glimpse into my life as wife, mom of 3 boys, and someone who simply wants to bless others along the way. Have fun and be sweet :)
