The underdog...

Don't we all love the underdog?? Don't we all just jump up and down like fools when the underdog comes back and wins a game....football, baseball, basketball....whatever the sport may be....we'll cheer hard if the underdog is about to pull off an upset.

It's early this morning as I'm typing this out...and I sure haven't had my coffee yet so the brain is a little sleepy still....but, aren't there some good movies about the underdog beating the odds??
Wasn't "We are Marshall" that kind of story....they all got killed in the plane crash and the new football team beats the odds??? Was that the right movie??? Anyway, if its not, I'm clearly putting 2 movies together and have that non-movie in my head as a really good movie! :)

Anyway, my story is this....

Over the weekend, all 3 of my boys played in a baseball tournament away from home.
We had lots of ballgames on Saturday and lots of ballgames on Sunday. My youngest little guy's team, taught me another lesson Sunday afternoon.....

PERSEVERANCE and DETERMINATION and DON'T GIVE UP!!!

This little 7 yr old team made it to the championship game as the underdog yesterday. The team we were playing could hit home run after home run after home run. Our boys were down 4-0 or 5-0 and those little guys came back and won the dern game 8-7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing like the excitement of watching your team come from behind and win the BIG game and noone saw it coming!! Oh, how I love the underdog. My son fell asleep on the way home, with his 1st ever trophy, buckled in with him laying right up against his worn out body! Ahhhhhhh......

I know for a fact there are underdogs all around us. There might even be one in your home.
Maybe one of your kids has to work a little bit harder than the next to just get by. Maybe there is a kid who is friends with your kid and they are the underdog.

Who is this person in your life???

Would you spend a few minutes thinking about who this person might be.....child or adult or both. Make a good effort....and I mean really good effort....to pray for this person daily for one week! Pray hard for that person to persevere, be determined, and not give up in whatever is hard or frustrating for them.

Can we do that??

Oh, I'm so excited.....I've got a few in my mind.

Hebrews 10:24 says this..."And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."

Who do you need to spur on?? You never know what will happen....In reality, we all know the feeling of being the underdog and know the need for some spurring on!

Hugs and blessings~
Fran

Oh, I am just so proud of that little guy! How wonderful to fall asleep with a trophy. I'll be praying for my own little underdog... our oldest, who for the first time this weekend actually asked his daddy to toss a baseball with him. And, praise the Lord, he did not fuss the last time I took him to a practice. We're making progress here!

Haven't we all been the underdog at one time or another? I know I have!
That is one sweet little trophy winner you have there!

Awww, I can just picture your little guy buckled in the backseat, asleep with his trophy! I was just telling Kim on her blog that sometimes when I am reading ya'll's posts about all of your little men, I think that perhaps God may be preparing me for a lifetime of little boys! :) Who knows!

Thank you so so much for your prayers! We have had such peace these last few days. Grant started his new job today and I am anxiously waiting for him to come home and tell me all about it!

Love you girlfriend!

Fran,

I am an 'underdog' girl too! Whenever the super bowl or the world series comes around, if I don't know the competing teams, I always ask, "Who is the underdog?". Then that is who I route for.

What a precious way to pray for someone.

Only you my friend, would think of that!

Congrats to your little guy. I can just imagine how cute he was falling asleep with his trophy.

I love this post. I'm always rooting for the underdog myself...I appreciate your encouragement to pray for a few that come to mind!

All those ballgames. You make such a good point about praying for underdogs. Some just seem to have it harder. I used to tell my kids that some have natural talent and the rest of us work very hard, and guess who eventually wins? The one who works the hardest. Because at some point the natural talent guy won't know HOW to work hard, and the one that learned how to work harder knows just what to do. You wait and see. God loves the underdog! Great post. I just thought of who I'm going to pray for this week. Love you, Annette

Fran,
My oldest was always an underdog, and we prayed for him like crazy. He found his passion as a Sophomore in high school and God just blessed his socks off! It was really cool to watch. He still tends to be the underdog, but is completely happy with who he is.

Blessings,
Dana

I blog so you can get a glimpse into my life as wife, mom of 3 boys, and someone who simply wants to bless others along the way. Have fun and be sweet :)
