The smack down is near

Well, here I sit in my kitchen all alone in my house. Can you see me jumping up and down with joy because of all the freedom I'm experiencing?? Ok, maybe I'm not jumping and it sure does feel weird not having those rug rats on top of me because I really do miss them. (Sssshhhh, don't tell them.)

We are currently into day 4 of the "transition that will cause me to lose my mind" that most parents normally refer to as school has started back.

God is not answering my precious prayers of begging and pleading for patience and I'm just not sure why. Hmmmmm.....You see we are having all sorts of issues that are obviously school related because they have not been around until now.

Ugh. Let me pull my hair out.

Here are the problems:

1. 2 middle schoolers this year.....so much to say here, but I won't.

2. Some serious attitudes out of one of the above mentioned children. Thou shall not kill.

3. Some lying right in my face and we all know it's a big fat lie. SCREAM LOUDLY!

4. Crisis over uniforms and shorts and pants and socks that just don't "feel right." Whatever.

5. Going to Walmart or Target every day for the last 265 days (ok, maybe not) to get one more thing we forgot. SCREAM AGAIN!

6. Throwing money around like it grows on trees for all the above things needed from Walmart or Target.

7. Getting up sostinkinearly is hard on Mom too.

You get the idea. Praying for all the things that I'm lacking and needing as a mom right now. "Come on God. You can do it. I need some help here."

What's the hardest part for you during all this???

Hugs and blessings! Have a great day. And, pray yourself up!

For all the times that I envy you guys who have a little peace and quiet while your kids are at school, you just reminded me of how thankful I am for the opportunity to homeschool. Thanks!

Also, I left you a comment on FB about the lying.

Hope things improve QUICKLY!

Well, I'm sitting here alone in my "the silence is defeaning" house and thinking that this is the hardest part. Something about having the noise inspires me to get things done. But the quiet? Well, the quiet just makes me want to go back to bed since I got up sostinkinearly this morning, too!

But really the hardest part is knowing that another year has COMPLETELY FLOWN BY and I am one year closer to sending off my oldest to college (only 5 years away!) and my little girl is going to be a teenager at about the same time and I will be 48 and probably smack dab in the middle of menopause.

So ask me in 5 years and I'll bet you get a totally different answer! :)

Blessings, friend!

All of the above and working. The little man having a look of terror on his face when he walked into his class and having to leave him there. It's so hard to not be home when they get off the bus. They can't stand after school care and I can't stand that I'm not there instead.

All of what you just said! But the very hardest part for me is knowing all the traps out there that they can fall into and wondering if I have prepared them enough. By the way, Moms In Touch is a wonderful place for moms to go to pray together. It is time for me to get with my group! :)

First. The term "smack down" totally makes me laugh. Thank you for using it in your title.

Second. MIDDLE SCHOOL? That term alone sends shivers down my spine. I can't imagine my hormonal GIRLS in middle school.

Third. The hardest part for me, but the part that I appreciate the most, is the routine. My girls are creatures of habit and really thrive on a routine. However, summer doesn't usually lend itself to one. So even though we're a little (A LOT) more tired, the predictability is good for us.

Love ya!
As my dad always says, this too will pass. Then they'll be in high school and we'll REALLY understand hormones. Ugh.

We start school tomorrow and I start working at the church Monday. Don't get excited, it's a self created job that has no paycheck. It's just time in my life to get out of the house now that all the kids are in school so I'm creating false obligation.

Just an idea if you are looking for something to do..:))

Hey Fran -- the term middle school is just terrifying to me! My last little bird went off to her first day as a junior in High school. That's just too grown up for me! She just got in her little red Jeep and drove away. I asked her if she wanted me to take her to school. She didn't. I don't know why.

They will grow out of this but not before you get a few more gray hairs and some serious life experience. But I will say, middle school is much tougher than high school. I love having teenagers! They're a fun bunch!

2 MIDDLE schoolers - yikes
that says it all right there!
And I tell you school is hard for all kinds of reasons
We had a homework smack down on SAt but now we seem to be on the right track
Praying for patience and an easier transition :)
Love you

"Smack Down" I can totally hear you saying this! And it sort of made me laugh...

We don't start until next week, but the middle school jitters are here big time. Chloe will be attending "school" three days a week and working from home two. So we are still homeschooling this year, but also getting some classroom time. She started "youth group" stuff Sunday. I kid you not, 4 adult leaders asked her if she needed help finding the children's building. She told them "No thank you, I'm a 6th grader and I'm right where I'm supposed to be." I just hope she didn't say it with attitude.

Girl...sounds like you are going to be ready for a siesta weekend soon!! We all are! That is if any of us have ANY money left after we buy school supplies!!

Love you
s.

the hardest part for me is not being there to physically see them off to school or drop them off / pick them up.

I leave for work early so I can be home earlier and have more quality time in the evening. Either way there's a trade-off / sacrifice though.

It's just hard and it's nothing that can be changed anytime soon.

We start Thursday. With only one starting, and in second grade, I know I'm not anywhere near where you are, but I think I can relate a little. She may only be 7 1/2, but she has the drama of a 14 year old! I am fearful, hopeful, dreading it, and ready for it all at the same time. A new year means a fresh start, and hopefully a better experience. Last year was rough. But what if it's not better? Then what?! She and I had a heart to heart yesterday. Our big issue is jealousy. I told her it's not from God, but satan. It's evil, and I knew she didn't want to let that become who she is. We prayed twice yesterday, for God to take the jealousy out of her heart. I'm sure we'll be praying more today. I'll say a prayer for you and your boy too!

I totally understand! We start Monday will have 2 high school, 1 middle and 1 lower school... yes teenagers... hmmm keeps you on your knees! Thats all I'll say! It is tough! I'd take the days of footie pajamas all of us lying on the bed watching Mary Poppins well over these teen years! LOL!

God Bless- Emmy : )

Let me know if you need to talk maybe I have been through it!?!?

#7 is killing me! Aye.

As for your #1, I have one in MS now and today I made time to sit with him. At first the questions only got yes/ no answers, then he began to open up. Then I put him to work before playing the Wii.

I don't know, but maybe that will help.

Praying for you, Fran.

Middle school...enough said.

I barely survived middle school, so you can imagine my joy at living through middle school again with 2 daughters. I was so happy it was OVER!

I found your blog through Jean Stockdale. I have to say I love all of your "problems"! I hate it when my kids go back to school. I miss them and I miss all the fun we have. Check out my website, I think you'll like it. I have ablog page on there too.

I cannot tell you what a refreshment to m soul it was to sit and visit with you and Teresa. What precious women in the Lord you both are! It is such a God thing that our paths have crossed. How kind of Him to give us the time to share the things of the Lord and fellowship-as you said, like we had known each other for years and years. It's a God thing! I call it "a kiss from the King." Blessings to you! jean
