The infamous curve ball...and how to handle it!

Everyone who knows me at all, knows how much I love sports. I mean it's almost weird. Even when the boys aren't home, I'm watching an NFL game, or an MLB game, or the college basketball game. I LOVE SPORTS.

Two of my boys play travel baseball. I love each and every season because I love watching them love what they do and I never know how long this fun will last. Both of my boys are pitchers and as much as I love watching them pitch, I could throw up every inning they throw. It's way too nerve wracking for me. MOMMA CAN'T TAKE IT COACH!!!! ;)

The boys have taught me about a certain pitch.....the infamous curve ball. Basically it means the ball curves to one side or the other when thrown. "Its nasty." (that's what they tell me!)

The thing about the curve ball....it looks good until the end and then BAM! I love it when you are the momma of the pitcher and you say "I never saw that one coming." The curve ball isn't fun when you are batting and you never saw it coming.....a lot of times it means "STRIKE!"

Today I was thrown a curve ball. Didn't see it coming and not sure if I will strike out or walk on, but I'm trying to figure out how to adjust to the pitch.

I'm anxious to see how this plays out, so will you say a prayer for discernment for me please? I'm so grateful for each of you. It just means so much. Even if we've never met, I love you and I'm so grateful for your friendship along the way!!!

Ok, you've learned about the curve ball and you've learned that we need to hit our knees when we get thrown one.

Deep stuff, huh? Real life though.

And, please don't comment specifics if you know what I'm talking about ok? Thanks. :)

Love doing life with you!! (even if I just got vague and all at the end!)
Hugs and blessings~

First of all, you will NOT strike out. I will guarantee you that. No one, who has the Father that we have, will ever strike out. Praise Him for that.

I love you, twin. Let me know what I can do. Praying HARD for you!

I will be praying for wisdom and discernment in the situation. Thankfully, we have Someone to lean on when we are thrown a curveball, unlike a curveball being thrown in an actual game.

I think asking friends to pray is a very good way...and get advice from a wise friend, who has been there--that's what I'd do.

Praying for you my friend!

Praying that all will work out in such a way that God is glorified.

Thinking of you.

Fran,
This was a creative and interesting way to present your dilemma.

Our coach taught us there were two ways to hit a curve ball. One, move up in the box (closer to the pitcher) and hit the ball before it breaks (moves or curves). You have to anticipate a curve to do that one. Two, stand in the very back of the box so you can watch the ball longer, and hit the ball after it breaks, because that way you know the direction it is going in.

If the curve ball is already "crossing the plate" for you (to carry on your analogy), then you might just step back in the box for a bit and see what direction the curve is going to travel. Whatever the problem is - give it a moment to see how it starts to develop. That gives you some time to assess the situation, think what you are going to do, and respond with wisdom to the situation at hand.

God bless,
Warren

Maybe YOU didn't see it coming, but HE did. And He has you covered. You are being bathed in prayer and I know that God will be so very glorified through whatever road you are about to take, because His glory radiates off of you. You simply magnify His name without even trying. I KNOW He will see you through yet again and He SHALL be praised on the other side!

Know that you are so very loved!!!

No really, praying for you for wisdom. Love you, lady!

I'm the queen of the curve ball! I thought things were rocking along one way and WHAM... curve ball!

Praying for you sweet one.

Looking back over my life, I am so so thankful for the curve balls.

I just heard a Charles Stanley sermon today that a friend emailed to me. Something he said has stuck with he. He said when we look at a tough situation, we say, What am I going to do about this? When what we should say is, God, what are YOU going to do about this?

I have been chewing on that one all day.

I blog so you can get a glimpse into my life as wife, mom of 3 boys, and someone who simply wants to bless others along the way. Have fun and be sweet :)
