No matter what we feel about our President, he is still our President and should be given the respect that office demands. This is why teaching our children the story of David and Saul from the Bible is so important. David continued to give respect to the authority that the Lord had put over him.

We need to do the very same thing. I did not, however, prefer Bill Clinton. Even though I was not a Clinton fan, I would never boo him. We need to have respect for people in authority even though we disagree with their views. That is part of what is wrong with America today - kids arent taught to respect authority so they rebel in every way they can. In America we tend to only honor (or respect) those who earn it. Biblically, that couldn't be further from the truth. We are to honor those to whom honor is due. The Bible is so clear of the fact the GOD sets up leaders/authority. As believers, we need to honor those in authority over us. (As you said, even if we disagree with them.) The coolest thing is, our obedience to this earns us honors reward.
I totally agree with you Fran. I also have this deep patriotic thing in me...so to boo the president is just not something I could not do. In past administrations I have had to bite my tongue in order not to dishonor with my words. I'm thinking about how many folks are ugly and mean spirited when speaking about local officials, law enforcement personnel... and even our preachers. It goes back to what our grandparent's taught us... if you don't have something nice to say, just hush. It's not that I never disagree with people in positions of authority. They're just fallible folks like the rest of us. But my unfavorable opinions are reserved for sharing with my family and close friends. It's simply bad manners to boo someone publicly. It shows bad sportsmanship, immaturity and lack of self-control. Glad you shared, but it is a sad reflection of our country. On the positive side, you have a wonderful opportunity to teach your children the better way. If we'll all step up to the plate in those instances, there will always be hope.Tanjahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12638286078425804563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1920463547101602211.post-48726539505389953572008-03-31T05:44:00.000-05:002008-03-31T05:44:00.000-05:00We are the body and should know better!
