Mid-week confessional

Oh friends....We are days away from finishing school and my brain is so fried, done, could care less, and completely checked out from the whole school thing. Aren't we all a little weary by this stage of the game??

I'm so glad my children's teachers don't read this blog and I do have more than one kid....ya know...lets make it tricky and sneaky to try to figure who I'm talking about! :)

I must confess. I did one of my kids entire math page for him last night. I did every bit of it. We thought that going to watch friends play baseball was way more important than doing school work. How's that for fine example setting?? So....I'm clearing my mind and heart by letting you know. It's really bothering me this morning.

Exactly who does he think did his work for him? The math fairy?? I'm not asking.

I'm about to watch Beth Moore on Life Today and watch her probably teach something on lying, cheating or doing your kids work for them!!

Have a great day. I really need some divine intervention to get through these next few days. Begging for Summer! :)
Hugs~
Fran

As a mommy and a teacher I feel the pain of this post from both sides of the fence post...I applaud your tranparency. Loved browsing your blog. I stumbled here from bethanne's blog. Hang in there..not many more days of school!!!!

Oh Fran. I feel your pain! I haven't even wanted to TAKE Ellie to school this week. And we still have 2 1/2 weeks left :( I didn't realize how much this school thing was wearing on me, I can only imagine what our kids feel like!

Girl, mine is just in pre-school and I am ready for it to be DONE. And I have to tell ya, when my three (and now BARELY four) started bringing home work pages that were unfinished and the teacher was asking me to get her to finish them ... I laughed (and cried). My girl has many delays, but cognative learning is NOT one of them. I am so sorry if she does not feel like sitting and learning to write her alphabet. Is it not enough that she recognizes every number up to the 30's and can count in english and spanish, recognizes every letter in the alphabet AND can name every animal under the sun?!?!?!

So, I did what every self respecting mom would do - I threw the homework away. She has other things to learn this year.
Now, next year when she is actually preparing for kindergarten I will help her do it. But this year - let's focus on helping her with the delays and disabilities she DOES have!!!!!

OK, now that I have used your blog as a venting source, I will simply say this - use this as a teaching moment. Admit what you did to your baby and talk about why it was maybe not the best idea. Share that you are just as ready for summer as the kids are and that we all make mistakes, but they have to be faced and gotten past.
Every mistake is a teachable moment - for us and for them~

Love ya Siesta!

I'm with you on this one!! I home school, and I didnt feel like having school this week for a myriad of reasons, but the biggest being we dont have a kitchen right now as new cabinets are being installed. (Yeah) My high school son still has work. But the elementary one--nope, nada, nothing. I'm too busy. At the elementary age, he probably knows all he needs to know for this time.
Blessings in Christ-

I can so totally relate and I think most of us have been there with the homework sheet! We had a similar night and my son had a vocabulary sheet, and I made him complete the sheet, but I basically gave him the answers. I felt bad knowing he hadn't learned a thing by my doing that, so I helped him study those words the rest of the week. A couple of times since then he has come and asked for my help and I'll tell him...I'll help you, but I'm not going to give you the answers, so he'll grin and say...ok, never mind.

Yeah, I know what you mean! We have one more week of school and then it summertime! Now if it would just warm up we would be fine.

It's so much easier to give them the answers, isn't it? I've had to really work at not getting frustrated and just telling them answers!
Not much longer!!

Girl, I am a teacher and I've been spent and burned out for weeks. Right now in this moment I could just fall asleep typing. I'm so tired I could cry because the two weeks between the end of school being out and summer school----OH yes ma'am I said SUMMER SCHOOL starts we still have kids coming in for the mornings. AND the week summer school starts...yeah...V.B.S. Somebody just box me up and ship me off to a deserted island....PLEASE!!!!!
If you don't mind I have a job interview this Sat. and would love some extra prayer warriors on it with me =)
Hang in there....

Oh, things to look forward to for me? You really did his homework?! I love your openness and there's not judgment here. You're so funny!

I love your honesty, but we'd all be lying if we said we NEVER stepped in for our kid at one point or another like this! Praise the Lord, Jesus steps in with His strength for His own when we need it most too!!

As a homeschooling mom, I confess spring fever gets me as much as my boys and by mid-May I am ready to do ALL their work to just finish for the summer!! I love you, girl, and pray for His strength to get your sweet family to SUMMER TIME!!

Hi! Found you on the siesta blogroll. I am a mom of 3 and a student - going in to education no less...and I am SOOO ready for summer break!! I didn't do my son's math page this week but I did do a little dance when he informed me that he forgot his math book at school and therefore, could not do his assignment. Hooray for irresponsibility, son!

I blog so you can get a glimpse into my life as wife, mom of 3 boys, and someone who simply wants to bless others along the way. Have fun and be sweet :)
