What do you wanna be?

Last night I went to bed kind of late for me....ya know, 11:30ish......and was thinking about what I wanted to be when I grew up. Ha! Why on Earth did I start thinking about that? No idea whatsoever. I had just finished watching my beloved Memphis Tigers lose to Missouri in the Sweet 16 and I might have been thinking about this after watching one of their players fight tears as he sat on the bench when it was almost over. Maybe that vision made me think about kids and wonder if this kid always dreamed of playing basketball for an awesome college program one day?

I dunno. Weird how our mind goes from thing to thing.

So, I was remembered that as a kid I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to be a nurse that worked in Oncology. Sure did. Still do in a big weird kind of way. My heart is very tendered to this.

Anyway, what did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing it now??

And, for the record, I'm working in the church serving in Children's Ministry. :)

Have a great weekend!
Hugs and blessings~

I wanted to be two things - a big ol' Barbara Mandrell country music superstar and a wife/mommy.

Now I sing to the glory of God on my church's praise team and I AM a wife and mommy.

I am living the dream y'all ... of course, without all of the sequins, tassles and big hair. But I wll take it!

hmmm...

When I was pre-Jesus, filled with pride, a lawyer b/c mom pushed feminism a bit and I want the recognition/money. Lots of money. Also thought about joining the USAF like mom had b/c of the prestige. But also cause I'm a huge patriot.

Walking with Jesus changed it a bit. I wanted to be wife and mommy (legalistically, does that make sense) But then also thought I'd do Broadcasting. After I saw the external demands on news anchors, I gave that up.

I feel (most days) a bit more content with just being a wife and mom, seeing how I don't do extra well at that. I also love serving the women I do in my church in various was...mostly through Bible study. I feel there's a lot pulling on my attention and can't seem to think clearly about where I'm supposed to be or what I'm supposed to do...which leads to my frenzy about schools, churches, etc.

I know He'll make it clear. and I'm believing that part of this upcoming move is to get me still enough to hear Him tell me. (how to be *still* in a move is such a question for me...LOL)
love you,
rachel

I wanted to be a mom and a youth pastor. Seriously, I had no other ambition, other than being an actress on Broadway, but gave that up pretty quickly because I do not like rejection! ;)

So I am a Mom. I was told I would never be a youth pastor because of the whole "girls can't be pastors" thing, so well, that didn't pan out, but my passion for teens has not changed. So you know I am pursuing a dream of working with teenagers...tons of school left, but I know God is in this thing, so I am patient!

Frannie, I just want to make a difference in peoples lives. I have a passion for Jesus and His word and His WAYS. I desire to pass this on to the hurt and dying world. My whole world revolves around this. It drives me.

:)

But I need to stop taking myself so seriously and just chill! And smile. And LAUGH!

I am doing exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up. Be a wife, mother and in ministry with my husband. We are doing all of those except for ministering out of the country which I am sure will happen as our kids get older!

Me? I wanted to be a teacher and a writer. Interestingly enough, someone recognized a "typing" talent in high school...I mean a ridiculously fast typing talent...and sent me on my way to state, regional and national competitions; thus, sealing my fate to be an office worker. I totally bought into and headed down that path.

Then called me to stay at home with my son when he was born. Greatest job in the world but not one that lasts because children grow up.

So here I am in the years when my kids are not grown, but away from home more than they are here, and what am I doing?

I am teaching...God's Word

and writing about what He has done for me.

Full circle, I would say...wouldn't you?

Love you,
Dori

I always wanted to be a backup singer or an astronaut.

I'm a stay at home mom.

And I LOVE IT.

But if Reba or NASA calls, I'm outta here.

I wanted to be a nurse that helped deliver babies and a missionary--at the same time.

We have been in full time ministry after bible college and now my man is raising support to be full time with Adventures in Missions. Who knows what will happen in our future? Only God.

My pre-adolescent self wanted to be an oceanographer. My adolescent self wanted to be a pediatric physical therapist. Neither was meant to be. I always wanted to be a wife & mom and that worked out perfectly. :)

I wanted to be a teacher, and a pilot. Yes, I did, I have always had such a fasicnation with flying. I have been a secretary, receptionist, and a stay at home mom. I homeschooled my boys so I guess I was a teacher. I haven't been a pilot but I have flown quite a bit. :)) I also taught Bible classes at church.

I wonder what God will have me do next?

I can see you being a nurse. You have a compassionate heart. I love that you said, oncology. Being that I had cancer I can see the need for nurses with your heart, especially those who suffer with cancer!!
I am sorry your Tigers lost. They killed my bracket. I really wanted them to win the whole thing!

Have a great weekend and call me soon.
Love you,
Patty

When I was little I wanted to be a mommy, wife, teacher, hotel maid, and Marsha Brady. I am currently a mommy, wife, have a teaching degree and homeschooling. I never was a hotel maid but feel like one sometimes here at home, and never turned into Marsha Brady though I did brush my hair as much as she did just because she did.
Cute post Fran. Fun to think about those things. I too watched the game last night it was painful. :(
Blessings,
Linda

I thought I wanted to be an astronaut but then I decided I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon.

Many years and many student loans later, I am an nurse anesthetist, which I LOVE. Just wish I had know it sooner.

An architect.

Reality: A stay-at-home mom and Bible teacher.

I once heard... that a Mom was the architect of a building in which one day the Holy Spirit would dwell.

So I have to believe this was His dream...

love you!
Teresa

I wanted to be a nurse, too (But hospitals make me dizzy). I did a post way back about it. I wrote how my life would have gone in such a different direction if I had become a nurse. I wouldn't be here typing this comment to you if I had. It's a long story, but just think about it. If you did, you wouldn't have___.... or ___...! So, I'm glad you didn't. Or, if God is telling you to be a nurse, you best listen to Him! :) I just love your posts. I can HEAR you talking in that sweet accent (from your video) and when I met you in SA.
Love you,
Angie xoxo

I always wanted to do something with music..the older I got, the more it became clear that it was to involve women's ministry. Now I feel like I am living my dream of being a mommy but also my dream of music and women's ministry.

You know..Last weekend I listened to Dr. Bruce teach on getting rid of the obstacles that get in the way of fullfilling our God given dreams...it was awesome...I wish you could have heard it. :)

Love you
steph.

Just "met" you! What a fun and encouraging blog. I hope to get to know you more.
I never knew what I wanted to be. I even took aptitude tests that had no idea what I should be! I started on a career path towards landscape design which I love, but then got married, and moved to Alaska. I have to say there is not a big push for landscape designers in my area, though I do work part-time at a greenhouse for 6 months of the year. I recently told my husband that when I grow up I want to be a snowbird! I've learned to let God direct my future as I NEVER would have guessed where and what I'm doing now!

I wanted to be vet and a Super Star. Mostly a Super Star. I planned to live in a loft apartment in NYC.

Fran, you may wonder just HOW I planned to be a Super Star. Would I sing, act, dance, ... what? I didn't have a clue -- that was of little concern. I just planned on being a Super Star.

By the way, the whole Super Star thing didn't pan out. Today I'm a wife, Mom, director of a non profit that works with abused children and a writer / speaker. I'm truly blessed.

Love this post!

What I wanted to be when I grew up: a pediatric surgeon (and was 3.5 years of following that path at Georgia Tech before Jesus bopped me on top of the head! Lord I pray we have believers in that field, but he needed me elsewhere apparently!)
My dream job now: Writing, out of my love for the Word, only if it brings people to know and love Christ more

I can't really remember what I wanted to be! Most likely a Mom!

I blog so you can get a glimpse into my life as wife, mom of 3 boys, and someone who simply wants to bless others along the way. Have fun and be sweet :)
