It has been forever and a day that I've been to a concert. FOREVAH. But, my precious 12 1/2 yr old, who still loves me, went to see Chris Tomlin last night. His very first concert. And, it was a Christian guy who happens to be cool with a guitar.
Me? My first concert was Lionel Richie and Tina Turner. Yeah baby! I thought she was sooo cool. I was probably 12, too, and stared at her legs and only imagined......"one day, maybe one day."
Never happened.
In June I'm going to see the beautiful Keith Urban and Sugarland. PRAISE GOD HALLELUJAH that will be one fabulous show.
I'd love to know what your first concert was and are you going to hear anybody cool sometime soon???
Concerts make me anxious for Summer. Have no idea why.
Love y'all.....

Hmmmm...I think my first concert was Billy Joel a long time ago, but it was THE BEST show. I also saw Kenny Loggins not long after Footloose came out and girl, I had me a good time!! :) I also saw James Taylor one year at an outdoor concert and it was really good. I'm a mellow concert goer, I guess.
Now for my anniversary about 3 years ago, my sweetie took me to see George Strait. That was pretty cool even though I'm not a huge country music fan.
On the spiritual side, I must have seen Sandi Patty a few times. Oh and Carmen.
But the best concert ever that I've been to is definitely Casting Crowns last April!
And I'm pretty sure that for my birthday on the 13th of April, my sweetie has bought me Michael W and Steven Curtis tickets. Yippee!!!
Ok...done rambling on.
P.S. It just dawned on me that I shared a whole bunch of concerts from my teenage and early 20's!
I also have to add that back in the early 90's I saw Restless Heart and Pam Tillis and THAT was an awesome concert.
Oh my word...I am so extremely jealous of your getting to see Tina Turner. I confess - I still jam out and dance with her :)
And this is terribly embarrassing: my first concert (a country one) was Mary Chapin Carpenter. I can't even remember how young I was! My 2nd one: New Kids on the Block :)
Can you be 'that girl' that calls me from your cell during the Sugarland concert? B/c you know I love them too :) haha!
My first concert was Amy Grant. I was in heaven!
Keith Urban and Taylor Swift in June. Maybe I'll ask her for her phone number to post on that message board so the calls will stop coming here! ;)
I would love to take my kids to a christian music festival...I went every year through high school, they were always SO fun!
Ya'll have such decent concerts but I was a little into rock wayyyyy back then and I saw Van Halen, Journey, etc... :) Saw them all in Nashville.
Crazy. lol
Okay, that's all I am going to say. ;)
Love you!
Oh my. This will cause me to think hard. It was a LONG time ago after all...
I can't be sure. It was either Bryan Adams or Air Supply. I think I saw them both in the same summer.
Last summer we went to the CMA Fest in Nashville and OD'd on concerts. Currently, my daughter is begging to see Kenny Chesney in May. Phil Wickham will be @ our church this month. Yippee!
In highschool took 2 boys from our youth group who couldn't drive to see Cheap Trick (what was I thinking - never again). Took my son to Winter Jam a few weeks ago and saw Tobey Mac, Hawk Nelson, New Song, Francesca Batistelli & The Afters.
Casting Crowns has been my all time favorite as well. Would love to see Chris Tomlin.
Blessings - Lisa
My first was Chicago (in Memphis! yeah!) but the BEST one I ever went to was Harry Connick Jr. at the Starplex in Dallas. Nice.
my very first concert was Scott Baio. cross my heart.
Did you really just say " Forevah" LOL!!!!
You are so stinkin' funny:)
My sister bought a Stevie Nicks cd for my mom today...Um, why not me?
:(
I love Stevie!
Anyways, done venting now:)
Thought I would come show the blog some love, since I never comment; and YOU always are nice enough to on mine:)
Have a great day love!
Ang
um, I just don't have a memory for these things...but I did do Winter Youth and the Summer Festival in Portland in High School...I cannot remember exactly WHO was playing but I do remember Clay Crosse, and some SKA band...b/c that's when SKA was so...in.
I know. I'm young. Don't hold it against me ;)
love you,
rach
My first concert was Garth Brooks at the Plant City Strawberry Festival...that was at the beginning of his career. (:
I went to a Keith Urban concert a couple of summers ago...SOOOO much fun!!!
Chris Tomlin has a concert in a town near us this weekend but we can't go...no babysitter. :(
My very first concert was Amy Grant at the Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville. It was awesome.
My favorite concerts were Barenaked Ladies and Dave Matthews Band, both at Riverfront Park in Nashville, back in the day when there used to be great concerts downtown.
And the last concert I went to was the Beastie Boys in Chicago. That was about 5 years ago.
Shaun Cassidy, when I was 8 years old.
No concerts in the future that I know of...I love music, though!
Fran, you make me smile..:)
My first concert was Expose!
"Your takin' me (oh-ee-oh)to the point of no return(uh-oh-oh)"
lol! I was 12 I think, and I remember running up to the stage and trying to rip a piece off from the singers ripped up jeans!! Oh my goodness...
I don't have any plans yet, but hopefully I will get some good ones in this summer too.
I honestly can not remember my first concert...I want to say it was Sandi Patti...her or Steve Green.
My favorite, and the best one ever was Reba and Kelly Clarkson...drove to Lousiville KY for that one...and worth it! Loved every minute of it...they sang back up for each other, sang together, and sang other people's songs. I mean, how cool is it that they opened the show with "Sweet Dreams are made of these"?!?! And I got to enjoy it all from the 7th row, center on the floor...Pretty much the most awesome seats and people wanted to be us! Lol!
My first concert was Hall & Oates and Huey Lewis ... and thus began my deep love for Huey.
However, I was more of a country girl so my fave concerts (before I became the Jesus Freak that you know today!!!) were George Strait (seriously, he didn't even need to sing, I was just there to look!) and I have seen Barbara Mandrell (my childhood hero!) so many times she knew my name. And truly, she is the BEST entertainer I have ever seen, and such a Godly woman. My mommy actually took me to Nashville to see her last concert before her retirement.
I think my first concert was seeing the Village People! Y-M-C-A I remember we sat so high in the stadium that we were probably high from all the smoke floating up.
I've seen Styx, Huey Lewis & the New (with 38 Special, I think),Van Halen (with David Lee Roth), Jimmy Buffet, Harry Connick, Jr., James Taylor and Trace Adkins (I met him!). Maybe I've been to more, but that's all I can remember.
I don't have any plans, so far, to go to any concerts this year. Any concert money I might have goes to the conferences!
wow. My first concert was....well I don't remember the guys name! I just know it was at an Amway convention with my parents. Turns out the singer was a Christian, but until last weekend I thought it was Barry Manilow! (My parent's cleared that up over the weekend when I announced that I remembered sitting through a barry manilow concert in the floor.)
Sure wish I knew who he was!
My sister and I went and saw Keith Urban last year in Dallas. He puts on an awesome concert!
One of my first concerts was Garth Brooks. Great performer. I guess that’s why he won Performer of the Year one time, ya think?! I always went to see George Strait several years in a row in Dallas. Funny thing is now I really can’t stand much country. I guess I was country when country wasn’t cool and now I’m over it. (I know, that was bad!) I also went to see Kristy Starling and Big Daddy Weave together one year. I went to a DC Talk concert when the opening band was Audio Adrenaline. Man, that was a long time ago! Oh, and Harry Connick, Jr. at the Dallas Starplex Amphitheater. That was amazing!
Well, I wanted my first concert to be Shaun Cassidy but my mother saw otherwise.
Some of the BIG name concerts I have been to are Billy Joel/Elton John, Jimmy Buffett.
My favorites though are the Contemporary Christian groups with my top one being Michael W. Smith.
I am taking my 7 year old daughter in Aug to see the Jonas Brothers. Because I am cool like that.
My mom's friend from high school had 3 boys, and my sister & I went with them to see Shaun Cassidy. I think I was in about 6th grade. I only remember one of them spilled a coke on my new frog purse. Devastated. (But not as much as had it been my Bible and study notes/journals! SO SORRY to hear that!)
Later went to Sandi Patti, Amy Grant, Rich Mullins, Steven Curtis Chapman, and of course, Chris Tomlin -- they were all much more my speed!
My first concert? Billy Ray Cyrus. I know, I know. Sad. But in my defense I was 13 and my mom made me go b/c my sister LOVED him.
We have many good concerts coming. Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, NKOTB.....
Not sure which one we'll hit up.
