Happy Birthday!!!

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to proser you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This is for my oldest son.

This is for his birthday today. I really can't believe it.

My baby is 12 years old and I'm wondering where in the world did the time go because surely he's NOT 12!

I was 26 yrs old when I had Clay and didn't have a care in the world and didn't have a clue for that matter either. :)

I was just thrilled to know that he would be the first person to ever call me "mom." I didn't get the meaning of that word, mom, at the time. I sure understand the depth of it now. It might have been a good idea that I was young and clueless because I wasn't scared in the slightest.

Clay arrived into the world after 15 1/2 hours of labor, weighing in at 8 1/2 lbs and was bald as a bat. He was just stunning to me and I was just in shock that he came out of my belly and that we had made him. He definitely had my heart at first look.

Clay is growing into a young man that always wants to do the right thing, wonders why everyone else can't do the right thing, and loves Jesus more than I ever imagined at that age. He loves different Bibles and will just go read a book of the Bible just because. How cool is that?!

"Dear Lord, please protect that part of his heart and mind. I pray that he continues to grow in love and knowledge of you and he never waver in Who you are in these years to come."

Clay is calm, even tempered, humble, and perseveres like none of my other children. He won't jump ship when the going gets tough. I love that about him.

He enters middle school this year which means a whole new territory for a whole bunch of new things. Watch out middle school....here we come!

I'm scared. I'm happy. I'm excited for him. I'll pray like crazy for him.

Children are a gift from the Lord and I'm in awe of this child today. He teaches me so much.

I love you Clay. You are my 1st born, the strongest one of us all probably. I cannot wait to see where God takes you. Remember, He has plans just for you and your father and I will walk right beside you and be your biggest earthly fans.

Happy 12th birthday!!! Now, let's have a GREAT day celebrating!

Hugs and blessings!

Happy Birthday Clay!!!

What a special kid. I think all first born children hold a special place in a mother's heart because of what they teach us (from how to take care of a baby to the fact that they are our kids but they can do things that we cant).

May it be a special day for you all. There is truly something about the first born, who teaches us so much and the second born and the third in your case. In my case the second born was my son and he has taught me so much. However, my baby boy was thirty four yesterday almost as old you, sweet Fran. Seems like yesterday he was twelve. You are blessed to have a twelve year old who is that spiritual. May he continue to grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Mine has broken my heart more times than I care to count and has kept me on my knees, I would not trade him for the world. Each one is sent to teach us certain things and stretch us and make us grow. I pray that everyone has a very special day today. Keep them close while you can and then let them go and spread their wings. You are teaching them well and they will "fly" well. Blessings...

happiest of birthdays to your boy, and prayers for you- from one who just survived, i mean, endured, i mean finished up her year of living with a 12 year old boy... and who knows you will need the prayers. ;)

Happy Birthday, Clay! What a doll-baby. There is something special about the first born isn't there? And then of course there's the middle child. Always something special about that one. And then there's the baby...just something special about that one. :)

But the first born...oh. my. I was thinking this morning how when I found out I was pregnant with Sarah (I was 10 weeks pregnant and Shawn was 3 months old...don't even ask me how it happened...it's all a blur) but I was thinking there was no room in my heart to love another child. Shawn totally consumed my love. I had never felt that kind of love before. And I cried...oh how I cried...to find out I was pregnant again so soon. And then I went into labor at 24 weeks and well...I suddenly realized how much I loved this second one already! And then when she was born...I had to take a one day break from Shawn just to focus on her and she found her place in my heart and that was all she wrote. By the time the Brettster rolled around...I loved him from the moment of conception, I'm convinced.

Anyway...long comment to say...there really is just something about that first born kid!

Love you!

Happy Birthday!!!! Your son sounds so special. I remember my 2 at that age. What are the plans today? My two don't like birthday cake and that makes me sad because I do. LOL

I still can't believe I will have a 20 year old in a few months. What a joy to raise boys!!
Have a great weekend!!
Love,
Patty

Happy Birthday, huh? 12. Amazing. I can't believe my baby is 7, yet I can somehow grasp that in another blink of an eye he will be 12. Sigh.
